Accord, FROM MYDATA GLOBAL
Better privacy starts with
a clear agreement
Accord helps individuals and organisations build trusted data relationships through clear agreements about how personal data can be used.
Built on the IEEE 7012 standard, also known as MyTerms, Accord brings a simple principle online: treat people’s data with the respect you would expect in everyday life.
Trust Mark accreditation is managed by MyData Global.
For Individuals
Make your privacy commitments clear
People should be able to understand what happens to their data. Organisations should be able to explain their commitments and put them into practice. Accord provides a shared framework for doing both.
Give people greater control
Enable individuals to express their preferences and agree how their personal data may be used.
Make commitments explicit
Use standardised data agreements to establish a clear understanding between your organisation and the people it serves.
Build stronger relationships
Create a foundation for useful, voluntary data sharing built on transparency and mutual benefit.
Service only
Start with the service. Use the data needed to deliver it.
Accord’s initial implementation focuses on a default agreement called Service Only.
The principle is straightforward: personal data is used only as needed to provide the service the individual has requested, within the terms of that agreement.
For the initial website deployment, the focus is on necessary cookies and the data use required to deliver that service.
From this clear starting point, individuals and organisations can choose to agree additional uses of data where there is a shared benefit.

THE ACCORD TRUST MARK
A Trust Mark with a clear meaning
Accord begins with three accreditation levels, recognising different ways organisations can take part.
Accreditation level
Supporter
Show your support for a fairer, more transparent approach to personal data and the direction of the Accord programme.
Accreditation level
Implementer
Demonstrate that your organisation has met the programme’s requirements for implementing IEEE 7012 in its operations.
Accreditation level
Contributor
Support and implement Accord, while contributing to the development of the wider ecosystem.
Each level has its own accreditation process, managed by MyData Global. The programme will evolve as implementations grow and new use cases emerge.
PRACTICAL IMPLEMENTATION
Bring Accord to your website
The first Accord implementation brings together MyData Global, DataPal and Civic Cookie Control.

The deployment begins with organisation-side agents and a base set of standardised agreements, including Service Only. A subsequent stage introduces a Personal Privacy Agent, enabling individuals to bring their preferences and permissions to participating services.
THE WIDER VISION
Your preferences should travel with you
Repeated privacy choices create friction. Accord’s wider vision is to let individuals manage their preferences through a Personal Privacy Agent acting under their control.
The aim is simple: make useful data sharing easier, while keeping the individual involved in the decision.
How agents work under IEEE 7012
Under IEEE 7012, individuals and organisations can use agents to propose, agree, sign and record standardised, machine-readable data agreements.
That creates opportunities beyond website cookies: clearer agreements for
